The 2022 series hooked fans by exploring themes like police mistakes and the serial killer’s lack of empathy. When Netflix announced in 2023 that a second season was coming, focusing on a different serial killer, fans got even more excited.
The first season did so well that it became one of Netflix’s most-watched shows ever, reaching one billion view hours in its first 60 days. Creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan are now ready to bring the anthology series back, featuring another famous case from the 1990s.
Fans were expecting the story of one brutal serial killer, but they got a surprise with two—a real treat for true crime series lovers. Also, check out City Hunter, another crime thriller filled with mystery like this one.
The series’ second season is called Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
In 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez became famous for killing their parents, José and Mary Louise Menendez, in their Beverly Hills home. The series will show what happened around these terrible events.
The two brothers shot their parents and later said they did it because of years of abuse. However, the prosecution said they only did it to get their family’s money.
In the end, both brothers were found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny will play the parents, while Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch will star as Lyle and Erik Menendez.
Nathan Lane, Ari Graynor, Leslie Grossman, and Dallas Roberts will also join the cast for the much-anticipated second season.
