Netflix has just added a perfect double-feature for zombie lovers. Now you can watch one of the best modern zombie movies and its action-packed sequel on the platform.
Train to Busan, released in 2016, tells the story of a man and his daughter who are trapped on a speeding train during a sudden zombie outbreak.
Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and written by Park Joo-suk, the movie stars Gong Yoo (Squid Game), Jung Yu-mi (Love Your Enemy), Ma Dong-seok (Eternals, The Roundup), Kim Su-an (The Battleship Island), and Choi Woo-shik (Parasite).

Train to Busan is now seen as a zombie classic. It scored an impressive 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and was praised for its lovable characters, strong social message, and intense zombie action.

When a mysterious virus breaks out across South Korea, the infected transform into the murderous undead in the wildly successful 2016 thriller TRAIN TO BUSAN, an official New York Times Critic’s Pick that Slant Magazine credits with scare tactics “among the most distinctive the zombie canon has ever seen.” As terrified travelers fight for their lives on a bullet train from hell, the result is a gory high-speed collision between the rich and the poor, the living and the undead, and the best and worst of human nature. However, when some of them prove willing to sell their soul for survival, the trust may prove to be a luxury even the most affluent passengers cannot afford.
After the success of Train to Busan, 2020’s Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula had a tough time matching its predecessor’s acclaim. Set four years after the initial zombie outbreak, Peninsula shows a South Korea left in ruins and follows a soldier (Gang Dong-won) and his team as they fight through hordes of zombies in a nightmarish post-apocalyptic world.
Although Peninsula received a much more mixed reaction, scoring 55% on Rotten Tomatoes (but a stronger 76% audience score on the Popcornmeter), it still offers plenty of thrilling moments for fans ready to return to the zombie-ravaged future that began with Train to Busan.

Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.
As we wait for updates on a possible third movie in the franchise, a U.S. remake of Train to Busan is already in early development. Currently titled The Last Train to New York, the project will be directed by Timo Tjahjanto — known for The Night Comes for Us, V/H/S/2, The Shadow Strays, and The Beekeeper 2 — with James Wan on board as producer.
