When asked about what’s next for his character, Rip Wheeler, in the Yellowstone universe, Cole Hauser said,
We’ll see how things unfold in the next year or so and figure out what’s ahead. Hopefully, we can keep showing up in people’s homes and entertaining them like we’ve done for the past seven years. For me, it’s a dream to entertain, inspire, and teach people through what I do.
He also shared,
Yellowstone first aired in 2018 and featured Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, the husband of Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) and the son-in-law of John Dutton III (played by Kevin Costner). The show focused on the Dutton family as they worked to protect and defend their home and land, creating a huge TV universe along the way.
The original Yellowstone series ended on December 15 with the finale of its fifth and final season, wrapping up with 53 episodes. It became one of the most well-loved and critically praised shows in the industry. So far, the Yellowstone franchise includes three shows, including the prequels 1883 and 1923. More spinoffs and another prequel are already in the works.

On December 11, it was announced that one of the new spinoffs will focus on Rip and Beth’s relationship after Yellowstone’s ending. Both Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly have officially agreed to return as their characters.
Fans can also get excited for The Madison, a Yellowstone spinoff set to release in 2025. The show will follow a New York family who moves to Montana and will star Michelle Pfeiffer, along with Rebecca Spence, Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garret, and Elle Chapman. Other projects in the works include a 6666 spinoff, which will explore life on the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, and a 1944 prequel, continuing the story from 1923.
