Daria Kasatkina had to give up a point during her Wimbledon match against Liudmila Samsonova after a surprising wardrobe issue. Playing on Court 3 for a spot in the fourth round, Kasatkina faced a tough start, losing the first set 6-2. As she tried to bounce back early in the second set, things took an unexpected turn.
The 28-year-old managed to return Samsonova’s serve but had to stop mid-point when her shirt got stuck on her earring, leaving her unable to continue the play.
A BBC commentator remarked, ‘I’m not sure what happened there,’ with another adding, ‘I think her earring got caught on her shirt.’ They noted how rare such a moment is, saying,
That’s not something you see very often. That’s so unfortunate, especially as she was within touching distance in the game.

One of the commentators then remarked she had ‘never seen that before,’ while her colleague recalled a similar moment at the 2014 US Open when Caroline Wozniacki’s racket got caught in her hair.
It’s not something you see every match or every tournament, that’s for sure,’ the pundit added. ‘I would be taking the earrings out!
Meanwhile, as the commentators discussed the incident, Kasatkina could be heard off screen smashing her racket against a chair.

The wardrobe mishap handed Samsonova an early hold in the second set, and she went on to take it 6-3, securing her spot in Wimbledon’s fourth round. The 26-year-old, currently ranked world No. 19, will now face Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro for a place in the quarter-finals.
Saturday saw the women’s draw open up even more at the All England Club, with defending champion Barbora Krejcikova making a surprise exit. Krejcikova’s loss to Emma Navarro means there are now no former champions remaining in the women’s draw.
The defending titleholder took the first set but began to struggle physically, which allowed the American 10th seed to turn things around and move forward in the tournament.
All I can say that the first half of the match I was definitely enjoying myself on the court and I was feeling quite well, But then suddenly out of nowhere I just lost all my energy and I couldn’t really gain it back. It’s very sad for me and very unfortunate.
she said afterwards.
