People are still wondering when Wicked will be available to watch on streaming platforms.
As Wicked wraps up its time in theaters, many people are eager to know when the popular musical movie will be available on streaming platforms.
The first of two films, inspired by the famous Broadway show, premiered in November and quickly won over viewers. Wicked tells the story of Galinda and Elphaba, two friends who later become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz.
The Hollywood movie version has made more than $700 million at the box office and recently received ten Academy Award nominations. Fans hoping to watch Wicked on streaming in February might have to wait longer.

The movie is expected to stream on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s platform. But Peacock’s February schedule doesn’t include Wicked. For now, viewers can check out a behind-the-scenes special about the film, but the full movie isn’t available yet. There’s still a chance Wicked could join Peacock’s lineup later in February. However, for that to happen, Universal would need to stop showing the movie in theaters, even though it’s doing well.
When Will Wicked Be Released On Peacock?
As fans wait for Wicked to land on Peacock, Universal’s past release trends might give a clue about its streaming date. Here’s how some recent Universal movies were released:
- Abigail: Hit theaters on April 19, 2024, went digital 18 days later on May 7, and started streaming 91 days later on July 19.
- The Fall Guy: Released in theaters on May 3, 2024, became available digitally on May 21 (18 days later), and streamed on August 30 (119 days after theaters).
- Twisters: Debuted on July 19, 2024, went digital 25 days later on August 13, and streamed on November 15 (119 days later).
Wicked became available on-demand and home video on December 31, 2024, 39 days after hitting theaters. This was longer than Universal’s usual 18-25 day timeline. It seems Wicked will take longer to move from theaters to streaming, possibly around a 119-day wait.

Since Wicked is doing great in theaters, Universal probably won’t release it on streaming anytime soon, especially with the Academy Awards coming up. A late March release on Peacock seems most likely.
Wicked Part One is now showing in theaters and can be rented or bought on digital platforms.
