Critics have been brought to tears by We Live in Time.
We Live in Time has impressed critics with its first reviews this week.
Directed by John Crowley, this romantic comedy-drama stars Florence Pugh as Almut and Andrew Garfield as Tobias. Their lives change after an unexpected meeting, but their relationship faces a big test when one of them receives a heartbreaking diagnosis.
We Live in Time had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will have its first UK showing next month at the BFI London Film Festival.
After its first reviews, We Live in Time earned a solid 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 24 critics. Based on the feedback, it seems like viewers should be ready for an emotional experience.

IndieWire
“Nick Payne’s screenplay for We Live in Time may not offer a completely new idea, but telling the love story out of order helps the movie create a powerful impact. From the very beginning, it grips viewers with its emotional intensity.“
The Guardian
It’s a real pleasure to see two confident and talented actors given the chance to show off their skills, blending both their movie star charisma and their acting abilities in both comedy and drama.
Deadline
This film wouldn’t succeed without the perfect cast, and Garfield, who worked with Crowley 16 years ago on Boy A, and Pugh, who seems capable of anything, are both incredibly convincing and engaging.
Variety
Crowley believes the strong chemistry between Pugh and Garfield will be so captivating that audiences will want to watch the movie over and over. Eventually, Almut and Tobias’ memories will feel like our own.
Collider
With Pugh and Garfield starring in this amazing love story, We Live in Time becomes one of the best movie romances in years. It shows that Crowley has a special talent for capturing the power of love like no one else.

After the movie’s world premiere, Garfield talked about the viral horse meme that became popular on social media last month.
“I hadn’t heard from him since our filming day, but I really hope he shows up,” he joked. “Without that horse, no one would even know about this film!”
