It seems like any hopes for a revival are now gone.
After the show was canceled on Max, Netflix bought the rights to the HBO/Cinemax series and planned to release it in the US in February 2024. They hoped to bring the show back for a fourth season. Unfortunately, one of the actors has confirmed that season 3 will be the last one.
Netflix has brought some shows back before, but they need to not only be in the top 10 and have a lot of viewers but also really stand out. A recent example is Manifest, which Netflix picked up for a longer final season.
Joe Taslim, who played Li Yong in all 30 episodes of the show, sadly said over the weekend that there will be no fourth season. He shared this news on X:
“Many times, when I’m out and about, people thank me for Warrior. I’ve learned what it really means to be an actor. It’s more than just entertainment. Season 3 is our last season, and we won’t get to continue the story. But I am still very grateful. Thank you!”
How did Warrior perform after Netflix added seasons 1 to 3? The new Netflix Engagement Reports provide some information. The first season became the 80th most-watched TV show in the first half of the year, with nearly a quarter of a billion hours of viewing time.

The show stayed in the top 10 for more than a month in the US TV rankings, but unfortunately, it seems that a deal couldn’t be made.
After Taslim’s post, reactions quickly came in. One commenter said, “I’m really sad. It was one of my favorite shows! I was hoping for another season even after it came to Netflix. Thank you for three amazing seasons of such a fantastic show!”
Another person added, “I wish the show could keep going. It was my all-time favorite! Thank you and the whole cast for giving us such an incredible experience.”
Warrior isn’t the only show hoping for a Netflix revival right now. Heels is the newest addition to Netflix after moving from Starz, but the early numbers don’t look promising. Likewise, the Max Original series Scavengers Reign is also seeking a revival. Fans are also hoping that Netflix will bring back Detroiters when seasons 1 and 2 become available on the platform in October.
