Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl has set a new record for TV viewership. This stop-motion animated movie from Aardman is the first Wallace & Gromit film in over 10 years, following the 2008 short A Matter of Loaf and Death.
The story shows Wallace (voiced by Ben Whitehead) creating a “smart gnome” named Norbot (voiced by Reece Shearsmith). However, trouble begins when Norbot is hacked by Feathers McGraw, the criminal penguin and old enemy of Wallace and Gromit, who first appeared in the 1993 short The Wrong Trousers.
The same day Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl premiered on Netflix in the US, TV Zone UK announced it set a new viewership record. The movie aired on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day, drawing 9.3 million viewers. It became the second most-watched show during the holiday and the second most-watched film broadcast on English TV since 2022. Now, the total audience has grown to an impressive 16 million viewers.

The only show to beat Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was the 2024 finale of Gavin & Stacey. This episode brought the James Corden sitcom back after five years and averaged 12.3 million viewers.
The BBC debut of Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl broke records, showing that fans still love the Aardman series despite its long break. The movie also marks a big change for the franchise, as Ben Whitehead took over as the voice of Wallace after the original actor, Peter Sallis, retired in 2010 and passed away in 2017.

Creator Nick Park has made it clear that Vengeance Most Fowl isn’t meant to be the last Wallace & Gromit story. The huge interest in the movie might mean fans won’t have to wait long for the next adventure. Aardman Animations, known for classics like Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget in 2023, seems focused on bringing more stories from their beloved characters, which could lead to new Wallace & Gromit projects soon.
While the movie’s record-breaking BBC viewership is a great start, its success on Netflix might decide if another Wallace & Gromit movie gets made. Thankfully, this might not be a problem. Vengeance Most Fowl has received glowing reviews, with critics giving it a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and audiences rating it 97%. These amazing scores could lead to strong numbers on Netflix, especially in its crucial first few weeks.
