Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad, is working on a new TV show, and fresh details have emerged. While the title and full storyline are still under wraps, Gilligan and the show’s lead, Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, have hinted at a psychological sci-fi vibe similar to classic films like E.T.
The two reunited at the WGA Awards, where Seehorn presented Gilligan with the WGA West’s Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Writing Achievement. According to Deadline, she praised him, saying, “I can’t say enough lovely things about him.” Gilligan revealed that he wrote this new series specifically for Seehorn after her role as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul, stating, “I created this new show for her.” He also made it clear that this project has no connection to the Breaking Bad universe and that Seehorn’s character will be “very different.”
I’m excited for audiences to see Rhea play a very different character than the character she played on Better Call Saul, She plays someone who’s trying very hard to be good. She’s a bit of a damaged hero, but she’s a hero nonetheless. And it’s just a pleasure to work with her because she’s just the best, and she is so sweet and kind and talented. I can’t say enough good about her.

Seehorn revealed that she can’t share the show’s title yet. Apple TV+ gave the series a two-season order back in 2022. The story follows her character’s perspective and is described as a “fun, mild sci-fi series.”
The show takes place in a world like ours but adds a twist, bending reality in unique ways. It focuses on people and explores the human experience in ways that feel unexpected and surprising. Seehorn explained that while it’s sci-fi, it leans more into the psychological side of the genre.

Seehorn shared her excitement about the show, saying, “I can’t wait for it to come out though.” She pointed out that fans will recognize Gilligan’s signature style—deep, well-developed characters and the way he plays with different genres and tones. She explained how he mixes humor into dark moments and takes that even further in this new series.
In this new show, he pushes that to a limit that was both very thought-provoking and upsetting sometimes, and other times, so, so funny. It really swings for the fences. I had so much fun.
No release date has been announced yet for the untitled series on Apple TV+.
