Season 2 of Twisted Metal recently wrapped up filming, and Anthony Mackie teased that viewers can expect plenty of explosions and intense action. Fans of the video game adaptation will love hearing that it’s going to be a wild ride.
The show premiered on Peacock in 2023 and quickly became the most-watched original series on the platform. It didn’t just do well with viewers — while critics gave it a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences rated it a high 93%, making it one of the best video game adaptations ever.
Given its success, the show was quickly renewed. After several production updates, Anthony Mackie has now amped up excitement for the return of the PlayStation adaptation. He told Esquire.
We just finished it. We shot it in Canada and we blew up a lot of s–t. Every day we blew something up. There were days where the police would come out and be like ‘Y’all can’t blow this up’ and we would wait for them to leave and we would blow it up anyway. It was insane. We blew up people, we blew up houses, we blew up cars. Just know some s—t’s gonna get blown up in season two it was a blast.
Fans have eagerly waited for updates about Twisted Metal Season 2 since filming wrapped in November 2024. At the time, Michael Jonathan Smith shared his excitement, saying,
This production was unforgettable. Our incredibly talented cast and crew brought the thunder and helped deliver something truly special. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this season even bigger than the first one.
Anthony Mackie also talked about how Season 2 could continue the story, adding his own thoughts.
He’s going to have some challenges that’s gonna come his way, that’s gonna force his hand to be more of an adult and make some really tough decisions because you can’t be a milkman all your life. We’ve seen what happens to milkmen. So you have to decide what’s most important — hold your milkman status, or grow up and be an adult.

Twisted Metal Season 2 is expected to dive into a deadly tournament inspired by the original video game. The upcoming season promises even more wild action and excitement. New cast members include Anthony Carrigan, Sayor Bell Curda, Michael James Shaw, Richard de Klerk, Tiana Okoye, Patty Guggenheim, and Lisa Gilroy.
Returning stars like Anthony Mackie, Samoa Joe, Will Arnett, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, and Richard Cabral are also set to appear. While the release date for Season 2 hasn’t been announced, you can still catch Season 1 streaming on Peacock.
