The Traitors Ireland contestant Paudie Moloney might be the smartest reality TV player we’ve seen, thanks to his 30 years as a prison officer, his son says.

Loved by viewers as the traitor who could beat everyone—including the faithful—Paudie was almost destined for fame because of his tough life, according to his son Andrew.
Andrew Moloney—voted out of the RTÉ One show on Sunday night—said his “daddy’s” job definitely helped him succeed as a traitor.
You have to be strong minded as a prison officer. If you’re working in a prison environment for 30 years of your life, you have to be able to take things as they come. It’s an ever- changing environment. Absolutely, I do think it did (help.)

Prison officers usually stay out of the public eye, which likely helped the Limerick man keep his traitor identity hidden. Patrick Hughes, from Co Mayo—who avoided elimination until he was banished as a faithful on Monday—also thought Paudie’s prison work made him a master of the game.

But Patrick, a former casino manager, couldn’t crack Paudie’s poker face. He admitted he had “a suspicion” about Paudie but no plan to take him down.
From day one – and I said it to Kelley – ‘Watch out for Paudie beside you’. I recognised instantly in his background as a prison officer, he thrived and lived 30 years in a chaotic environment like this. I instantly thought he’d be brilliant in an environment like this. You can see he’s sitting back saying nothing, hiding in plain sight. Realistically Mark and others should have got together and got rid of him, he’s the biggest threat. It’s those cute strategies that kept him in so long.

Fan favorite Mark, an IT analyst from Co Laois, may have been murdered by the traitors, but he holds no grudges. He shared that just months before applying for the RTÉ show, “two of my friends passed away.” That loss pushed him to take every chance life offered. He never felt being deaf would stop him.

He also promised he never used lip-reading to get ahead, though he regretted saying he could because some might think it gave him an advantage.
Life goes on after The Traitors. Andrew admitted he still calls his “Daddy” Paudie because he was so worried someone would figure out they were father and son, and now the habit has stuck. In a happy twist, someone new will soon be called “Daddy.” Andrew shared he’s excited to become a father himself. His wife, Aisling, is due on October 20.
It will be such a nice shift. We will have a screaming baby… It’s nice to have that distraction.

And even though Paudie acted like he doesn’t like hugs on the show, Andrew said his father was just being “cute” about it.
