Netflix has added Mad Max: Fury Road, a movie critics described as “wild,” “crazy,” and “amazing.” It earned an incredible 97% on the Tomatometer and won six Oscars during the 2016 awards season, making it the biggest winner of the night.
Creator and director George Miller took the Mad Max series in a bold new direction with this film, 30 years after Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. He focused on two strong main characters and built a post-apocalyptic world that was both scary and fascinating. Now, this action-packed adventure is available to watch on Netflix in the US and the UK.
The fourth movie in George Miller’s action series takes place years after civilization has fallen apart. A cruel leader named Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) rules over survivors, keeping them as slaves in his desert fortress called The Citadel. He treats his five young wives as prizes, so when they manage to escape with the help of a brave warrior named Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), he’s furious.
Furiosa teams up with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a lone wanderer who was once a prisoner. Together, they race across the burning desert in a huge, armored truck called The War Rig, while Immortan Joe and his army chase after them.
Tom Hardy as Max and Charlize Theron as the tough Furiosa brought a unique dynamic to the movie, showing how two very different characters could work together with mutual respect. Their chemistry stood out amidst the wild action of the film.
Theron proved she’s one of the best action stars around. After Mad Max: Fury Road, she starred in hits like Atomic Blonde (with a sequel coming next year), three Fast & Furious movies, and The Old Guard, which is still available on Netflix in the US and UK. Each of these roles let her show off her fierce and unforgettable fighting style.
The performances by the cast were just one piece of what made Mad Max: Fury Road so unforgettable. The nonstop action, intense electronic music, and massive scale made audiences feel like they had been hit by a whirlwind—in the best way possible.

The movie’s energy and thrilling visuals left viewers exhausted but amazed. Its incredible production, unique moments like the thrash metal guitarists, the War Rig, and Nicholas Hoult’s breakout role turned this wild movie series into something truly spectacular.
Even almost ten years later, its impact hasn’t faded. While post-apocalyptic worlds are now common in movies and shows, none have come close to matching the power and creativity of Fury Road. George Miller’s masterpiece is a tough act to follow.
