Peaky Blinders is coming back in a movie after six seasons on the BBC. The show, created by Steven Knight, might take the Shelby family into the Second World War.
Tom Hardy said he “100%” wants to be in the new Peaky Blinders movie, but he’s not sure if his character will be in it.
The English actor played a Jewish gang leader named Alfie Solomons starting from season two of the popular show.
Even though Cillian Murphy‘s character, Thomas Shelby, defeated Tom Hardy in season five, Hardy has tried to bring his character back. Earlier this month, Netflix confirmed they are making a Peaky Blinders movie, and Oscar-winning Irish actor Murphy will play his role again.
At the UK premiere of his new film, The Bikeriders, Hardy told Sky News he wants to be part of the new project. He said,
“I’m 100% sure Alfie will show up, but I don’t know when… and I’m not even sure if he will. That’s just my guess.”
The Peaky Blinders movie continues the BBC show about a Birmingham crime gang, created by Steven Knight. The show ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022. Tom Harper, the director of the first season, will direct the movie.
They haven’t announced a release date yet, but people think the story will take the Shelby family into the Second World War. Murphy said about the film,
“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me.”
At the screening for his new movie, The Bikeriders, Hardy showed he really wants to be in the Peaky Blinders film. The Bikeriders, directed by Jeff Nichols, stars Hardy as the leader of a motorcycle club called The Vandals in 1960s Midwest America.
The movie features a love triangle between characters played by Hardy, Austin Butler, and Jodie Comer. “It’s not a bad triangle to be in,” Butler said on the red carpet in Mayfair. “[Tom is] such a dynamic performer, and I’ve admired him for a long time.”
The Bikeriders will be in cinemas on 21 June.
