After a year and a half, The Wheel of Time is back with its highly anticipated third season, and its Rotten Tomatoes score suggests the show keeps getting better. Adapted from Robert Jordan’s renowned book series, the Prime Video fantasy drama has consistently improved with each episode, earning strong reviews from critics across previous seasons.
Set in a world where magic is real but long misunderstood, the story follows Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), a member of a powerful mystical order. She encounters five young men and women, believing one of them is the reincarnation of the Dragon—a prophesied figure destined to protect their fading world from looming darkness.
With Season 3 now streaming, its early ratings are already impressive, boasting a 94% critic score and an 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. While these numbers may shift as more episodes drop, any changes are likely to be minor.
Each season has seen a steady rise in ratings, with the Tomatometer scoring 81% for Season 1 and 86% for Season 2, while the Popcornmeter climbed from 60% to 80%. This consistent improvement suggests a significant boost in the show’s overall production quality, making Season 3 a strong contender for the best one yet. However, with five episodes still to come, there’s still room for the numbers to fluctuate.

Unlike many fantasy series that lose momentum over time—or, in the case of many Netflix shows, get canceled before they can truly shine—The Wheel of Time continues to break the mold. Its growing success may stem from the creative freedom taken with the original story. However, after the first three episodes premiered on March 13, some fans voiced concerns about the adaptation deviating from the books.
In response, showrunner Rafe Judkins defended these choices, stating,
I’m sure it’ll drive people crazy, but there’s a reason why we do it, and that’s because we want viewers to emotionally understand the relationship between these characters and how each one affects the other.
While some fans remain skeptical, critics seem to appreciate his vision, as reflected in their glowing reviews. Here’s what top critics have to say about The Wheel of Time Season 3:
More refined than The Witcher, more gripping than The Rings of Power, and more unique than House of the Dragon, it’s difficult to envision a better adaptation of Robert Jordan’s epic saga—a story once thought impossible to bring to the screen.
