The Penguin is proving to be one of the most popular spinoff series in recent years. After winning big at the Golden Globes, the showrunner shared that a Season 2 could happen if the creative team comes up with the right idea.
In an interview with Screen Rant, LeFranc talked about the chances of The Penguin getting a Season 2 after Colin Farrell won a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role as the iconic crime boss. While she isn’t sure about the show’s future, she feels there are more stories to explore in this Batman spinoff.
We planned this as a limited series, and I’m really proud of the first season and the story we created, There’s definitely more to tell if we can find the right idea or characters, but we’re not there yet. For now, I’m happy with what we’ve accomplished.
LeFranc said
After the success of Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone in The Penguin, fans are asking for more spinoffs about Batman villains. However, LeFranc said she would only consider creating another spinoff if she feels a “personal connection” with the character.
For me, it’s about finding a personal connection to the character and creating something unique and different with them, That’s what I felt with Oz, and it allowed me to bring in Sofia and other characters into that world. I always look for something personal to connect with. If I find that, it would be an honor to explore it.
LeFranc explained
