The Last of Us Season 2 is just a few weeks away, and fans will once again follow Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) on their emotional journey. But get ready—this season will be even more intense and dangerous.
In a recent press conference, Pascal, the cast, and the creators shared that the story will include a time jump and explore important real-world issues.
While talking about filming season 2, Pascal thanked creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for making a safe and supportive environment where the cast could really express deep emotions.
I feel like it was a beautiful setup by Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] that the first thing that I got to shoot was just you [Ramsey] and I and in kind of an intimate setting.
he recalled
Pascal said that during filming, creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann made everyone feel safe enough to dive into emotional scenes.
There’s incredibly painful distance between the two of them and the playing of the scene, but we still got to be on set and f**k around and laugh and stuff like that. And that was incredibly comforting, that was like coming home.
Season 2 of The Last of Us will bring emotional moments, deeper storylines, new faces, and more complex character relationships. While the show’s heart remains the bond between its main characters, it also reflects the real world.

Pascal hinted that the new season offers a potent mix of emotional intensity and innovative storytelling, exploring human struggles during crises and making thoughtful connections to today’s society and politics.
