Every new season of The Great British Baking Show kicks off with a “comedy” sketch that puts the hosts and judges in over-the-top costumes for laughs. Previous themes have included The Wizard of Oz, Barbie, and even a COVID-era press conference outside 10 Downing Street. But in 2025, the Netflix favorite may have topped them all.

Spoilers for The Great British Baking Show Season 13 cold open, now streaming on Netflix
The Season 13 cold open is a wild Jurassic Park parody showcasing some of the show’s most impressive costumes yet. And no, it’s not the Paul Hollywood-inspired T. I mean…come on!
The 2025 season of The Great British Baking Show kicks off with Prue Leith, Noel Fielding, and Alison Hammond riding through the “Jurassic Bake” theme park in search of a picnic spot. Alison is dressed as Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler, Noel takes on Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm, but Prue’s transformation into John Hammond steals the show. The hair and makeup team traded her usual colorful style for Hammond’s crisp white outfit and even added a faux beard to complete the look.
Prue’s Herculean dedication to the role is something to see. She genuinely sells the shock and horror when the “Tyranno-Paul-us Rex” stomps toward the Jeep. Even as the sketch grows more absurd — with Noel Fielding being eaten by the dino and Paul appearing in a much less impressive dinosaur outfit — Prue never breaks character.
Episode 1 of The Great British Baking Show Season 13, titled “Cake Week,” is now available to stream on Netflix.
