Robert Pattinson shared that his co-star Zendaya had to reassure him after he spent three days stressing over a scene in Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming A24 film, The Drama. The movie follows a couple facing an unexpected twist before their wedding. Pattinson admitted he had doubts about the scene after overanalyzing the dialogue, feeling he might be missing a deeper meaning, which left him second-guessing himself before filming.
Pattinson seems deeply in touch with his emotions, recently admitting he’s now “too sensitive” to watch certain types of movies. In an interview with the French magazine Premiere via IndieWire, he revealed how he started spiraling before filming a scene for The Drama. Feeling overwhelmed, he turned to Zendaya, who helped him calm down with a simple explanation. In the end, it wasn’t as complicated as he initially thought, as he told the publication.
We had a scene together that was driving me crazy. I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis. I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning. And there I was going crazy for three days.
The Drama was announced in August 2024, with Kristoffer Borgli directing from his own script. Indie giant A24 financed and produced the film, with Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone producing under their Square Peg banner. This continues their successful collaboration, which has brought hits like Hereditary and Midsommar. While the team has several projects lined up this year, The Drama is reportedly a top priority for the studio.

Kristoffer Borgli previously directed the surreal dramedy Dream Scenario, starring Nicolas Cage as an ordinary man whose life is thrown into chaos when strangers start seeing him in their dreams. A collaboration between A24, Square Peg, and Saturn Films, the movie had a limited theatrical release in November 2023 before expanding widely, earning praise from critics and audiences for its strong performances.
Borgli also wrote A24’s 2022 dark comedy Sick of Myself, his second feature as a director, which humorously explores a toxic relationship between two highly competitive individuals. Recently, he signed on to direct The Shards for HBO, an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ suspenseful serial killer novel. With The Drama on the horizon, it will be interesting to see just how much drama unfolds when the film finally hits screens.
