Wilson even joked that their “fake marriage has lasted longer than many real ones.”
Talking about his onscreen partner, Farmiga, Wilson said:
Wilson also praised filmmaker Michael Chaves, who directed earlier movies in the series like The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and The Nun II (2023), and is now directing Last Rites, coming to theaters next year.
(Chaves also directed The Curse of La Llorona, but as he told Entertainment Weekly before, it’s not officially part of the Conjuring universe.)
On Thursday, Farmiga posted a framed wedding photo of Ed and Lorraine on Instagram.
Wilson and Farmiga first played Ed and Lorraine in The Conjuring (2013), directed by Wan. The movie was such a big hit that it turned into a huge horror universe, kind of like the Avengers but for scary movies, with fans all over the world. This includes the Annabelle movies about the creepy doll from the first film and two The Nun movies, starring Farmiga’s sister Taissa as Sister Irene.
Not much has been shared about the story of The Conjuring: Last Rites, but Chaves told EW that the post-credits scene from The Nun II will lead right into it.
In that scene, Ed and Lorraine get a call about a possessed priest, Father Gordon (Steve Coulter), which sets up the events of their final movie together.
The director added:
In the comments of Wilson’s Instagram post, Wan shared a heartfelt message to honor his actors. He wrote:
A software engineer who is proficient in the entertainment domain and undoubtedly interested in writing catchy website content. She writes compelling content as a technical person who is concerned about the viewer's interests. Her hobbies are Netflixing and reading books, and she later searches for the details of the content she watched.
