Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, is hinting that the show is nearing its conclusion, and it will be an explosive one. He cautioned fans that “there will probably be lots of death” in the fifth and final season of the series, which is currently being developed after the record-breaking success of Season 4.
“There’s no promise anyone will survive since we don’t need to save them for another season,” Kripke shared with Total Film. “So, we can create surprising and major events all the time. As writers, we’re really enjoying coming up with these ideas.”
“Many series finales end up disappointing, and it’s really tough to wrap things up perfectly,” Kripke explained. “I’m very thankful to Amazon for letting us finish the show the way we want, but I definitely feel a lot of pressure to do it right. If we nail the ending, people will say, ‘That was a great show!’ But if we mess it up, they’ll just say, ‘It was a good show, but the ending ruined it.'”
In 2020, Kripke mentioned that his initial plan for the comic book TV adaptation was to have “about five seasons.” However, he noted that his previous show, Supernatural, lasted for 15 seasons. “But I’ve learned not to predict how many seasons a show will have,” he added.
