After three seasons and 13 Emmy wins, Ted Lasso wrapped up what many believed to be its final episode. In the finale, Coach Ted (Jason Sudeikis) returned to America after three years of coaching football in Richmond.
The popular Apple TV+ series was created by a team, including Bill Lawrence. Lawrence also worked with Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein on another Apple TV+ show called Shrinking, which stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford.
In a recent interview with Collider’s Christina Radish about Shrinking Season 2, which ended on Christmas Eve, Lawrence shared his thoughts on the possibility of a fourth season of Ted Lasso. He explained that much of the show’s future depends on Jason Sudeikis, its leading star.
Jason Sudeikis’ role as Ted Lasso is the heart of the show, so it’s no surprise that he’s deeply involved in writing and shaping not only his character but the rest of the cast as well. While the third season of Ted Lasso received a bit of mixed feedback, it still did well with both critics and viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics gave it an 82%, and audiences rated it 77%.

After the Season 3 finale, where Ted returns to America, making another season of Ted Lasso won’t be easy. However, Lawrence, Sudeikis, and the other creators are clearly excited to keep going because they believe there’s still more to the story without ruining what was already told.
Along with Jason Sudeikis as the head coach of AFC Richmond, Brett Goldstein plays Roy Kent, a former star player who moves into a coaching role as the show progresses. One of the team’s more stubborn players at first, Jamie Tartt, is played by Phil Dunster, who will work with Bill Lawrence again on an upcoming comedy series on HBO starring Steve Carell. Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple also star in Ted Lasso as Rebecca Welton, the team’s owner, and Keeley Jones.
Ted Lasso Season 4 is currently in development, but it hasn’t been officially approved to begin production yet. You can watch the first three seasons now on Apple TV+.
