Netflix shared on Friday that filming for Stranger Things season five is finished. The cast and crew started shooting the final season on January 8 in Atlanta and spent 11 months working on it. This wraps up the much-loved series in an exciting way. Ross Duffer, one of the show’s creators, shared on Instagram,
We’ve been working on this story for almost ten years. Many of our cast members started with us when they were just kids, around ten or eleven years old. For them, it wasn’t just a show—it became a big part of their childhood. We’ve watched them grow up and turn into more than just actors—they’ve become family.
It’s not just the cast who feels like family to us. Our crew, many of whom have been with us since the start, means so much to us. Their hard work and passion have been the heart of this journey. Everyone gave their best to make sure the story ends in a way that feels right. They put everything they had into it, and we’re so proud of what they’ve done. We can’t wait for you all to see it next year. Until then—over and out.
Duffer also said,

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, also shared his thoughts online after filming finished. He posted a bunch of pictures on Instagram with a long caption, looking back on his time as one of the main characters in Stranger Things.
Two days ago, I filmed my last scene as Will Byers, and it made me feel really emotional, As I say goodbye to this part of my life, I feel so thankful for the amazing people I’ve met and all the important lessons I’ve learned during this 10-year journey.

Noah then shared the top 10 lessons he learned from the crew and his co-stars, including Shawn Levy, the Duffer brothers, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, and Charlie Heaton.
Growing up, I often felt like I didn’t belong and wasn’t sure where I fit in, Going through life in the spotlight while feeling this way—and having every awkward and embarrassing moment out there for everyone to see—was definitely unusual. But I’ve been lucky to share this journey with my amazing co-stars, who truly understand what it’s like.

Stranger Things wasn’t just a job—it was a dream come true. This dream became real because of the Duffers. Thank you for believing in me when I was just a 10-year-old kid and trusting me with something so important to you. This cast and crew have created something truly special, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the final chapter. For me, Stranger Things will always be part of my story—it will stay in my heart forever.
Noah ended by saying,

Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, shared that he’s still “in shock” that they’ve finished filming the show that started his career.
We spent a year filming, and I’m really going to miss my friends and our characters, When I think about the show, I see this first photo—a group of silly young people making something they think is cool, not knowing how big it would become. I feel like we’re still those same people, and I’m so lucky to still be with them today. I hope you’ll love this season as much as I do. See you next year.

Netflix had earlier revealed the titles of the season five episodes, giving fans a few hints about what to expect. The episodes are called “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of _,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape From Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.”
Netflix shared the titles for all eight episodes of the new season, but part of the second episode’s title, “The Vanishing Of,” is blank. This might mean they’re not ready to say who or what is vanishing yet, or it could be a nod to the very first episode, “The Vanishing of Will Byers.”
The final season will take a time jump, starting about a year after the events of season four. The story will pick up in the fall of 1987. Fans will have to wait until 2025 to see it, though the exact release date hasn’t been announced yet.
