Wrapping up a long-running TV show can be tough for actors, and one Stranger Things star is still adjusting. Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the series has been a hit on Netflix since it first aired. Season 5, the show’s final chapter, finished filming on December 20, 2024, and is set to premiere in late 2025. While spin-offs are in the works, not all cast members will return.
Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield, is finding it hard to say goodbye. During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she shared that she’s still processing the show’s end. To hold on to memories, she kept a few things from set, like Max’s skateboard, Walkmans, shoes, and a cassette stand.
It was really hard, really difficult to say goodbye. I think 10 years for the whole show. But I don’t know, we grew up on it, grew up with each other, like our audience grew up watching us and I don’t know. [I] took a lot. Well, just like the essentials, you know. I needed Max’s skateboard, which that was actually gifted to me, the skateboard, cool. I’ve got some Walkmans, some Kate Bush cassette stand, some vans and stuff. Like, every shoe that she’s worn.

Stranger Things first came out in 2016, and by the time it ends, it will have been on for almost ten years. Many cast members were just 12 when the show started, including Sadie Sink, who was 13. Saying goodbye to roles they’ve played throughout their teenage years is tough. It’s even harder since the show gave most of them their big break and has shaped their entire careers.

As Stranger Things wraps up with season 5, the cast is preparing to move on. Sadly, that also means saying goodbye to each other, which has been the hardest part for many. Finn Wolfhard (Mike) and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) have both said they’re still adjusting to the idea. Since season 5 is months away, the farewell process will take time, and fans can expect more emotional moments from the cast throughout the year.
Saying goodbye to a school or team is hard, but leaving behind an entire cast after years together is even tougher. The Stranger Things cast and crew won’t have regular meet-ups for filming anymore. With many of them now busy with Hollywood careers, finding time to hang out will be even harder. It’s no surprise that Sadie Sink kept a few keepsakes from the show. You can’t blame any of them for wanting to hold on to those memories.
