Gi-hun is back as Netflix releases the first teaser for the new season of Squid Game. In the 30-second clip, Lee Jung-jae returns as the winner and only survivor from Season 1. The video shows a group of players in green tracksuits, and at the end, we see that one of them is Seong Gi-hun, his character.
With its dramatic lighting, the teaser shows each player’s number on their jacket, counting until it reaches Gi-hun’s #456.
Season 2 happens three years after Gi-hun won Squid Game. He gave up on going to the States and returned with a new goal. Now, he joins the dangerous survival game again, where new players compete to win a huge prize of 45.6 billion won.
In the first season, Dong-hyuk was the first Asian to win an Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series. Jung-jae also made history as the first Asian man to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and the first to win for a non-English show.
