Marvel Studios producer Brad Winderbaum has revealed a major link between Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Both the Disney+ series and the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film are set to release in 2026.
One significant crossover has already been confirmed: Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher, who plays a key role in Daredevil: Born Again season 1, will also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
This isn’t the first time Spider-Man and Daredevil have crossed paths. Fans will remember Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) meeting Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he briefly served as Peter’s lawyer and displayed his skills by catching a brick hurled through the window though Peter never learned his lawyer’s secret identity.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly at New York Comic Con, Winderbaum confirmed that the stories of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will influence each other, despite their differing tones.
We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there’s coherence there. We don’t want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important.
Winderbaum explained.
He elaborated on how both projects aim to maintain narrative consistency within the shared MCU setting:
We’re in a shared universe together, but I would say just the Daredevil comic books, the Punisher comic books depicted a certain tone and an idea of New York in a different way than Spider-Man’s, but they both exist in the same universe. It’s similar. Everything lines up and the impacts are felt, but we’re able to tell different stories.
This is not the first time Marvel has balanced overlapping stories in New York City. During the era of Marvel’s Netflix shows, the movies and series largely operated independently, with minimal acknowledgment between them.
Now, with Winderbaum confirming active collaboration between the creative teams, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day appear set to share more meaningful connections. With Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) seizing control of New York and declaring war on vigilantes at the end of Born Again season 1, these developments could influence Peter Parker’s next chapter.
Since Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is scheduled to premiere in March 2026 and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31, the events of the series are expected to directly impact the film’s storyline. While The Punisher’s involvement is confirmed, other character crossovers remain possible but Winderbaum’s comments suggest the main connection lies in maintaining a cohesive and evolving New York City within the MCU.
