Brian Tyree Henry thinks Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse won’t have a happy ending. In a recent chat with Variety, the actor shared why he believes the trilogy will end on an emotional note. Henry, who voices Jeff Morales, Miles’ dad, in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, explained his thoughts.
In the second movie, Jeff Morales played a big role as Miles worked hard to stop his dad’s death. Here’s what Brian Tyree Henry said about how the story might wrap up.
Not much has been revealed about the story of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. In the second movie, Miguel O’Hara (voiced by Oscar Isaac) insisted that Miles Morales must let the multiverse follow its natural path, but Miles refused to let his dad die. In the next movie, Miles will face a race against time.
Sony Pictures recently announced that Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson will direct the film. While the animated sequel has had a tough time during production, the studio is working hard to give fans a satisfying end to Miles’ journey.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had an amazing voice cast to bring the next chapter of Miles’ story to life. Hailee Steinfeld returned as Spider-Gwen, who becomes Miles’ love interest as the story unfolds. Steinfeld is no stranger to Marvel, as she also plays Kate Bishop in the live-action Hawkeye series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cast also included Lauren Vélez, Jake Johnson, and Jason Schwartzman, adding even more talent to the movie.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally set to hit theaters on March 29, 2024. However, after the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony removed the date from their schedule. They haven’t announced a new release date yet, as they focus on other projects based on the Spider-Man franchise.
Meanwhile, a fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland is scheduled to swing into theaters on July 24, 2026. Fans will have to follow Peter Parker’s live-action adventures while Sony decides when to continue Miles Morales’ animated story.
