Sofía Vergara brought humor and drama to the 2025 Golden Globes as she faced another tough loss. The “Griselda” star, nominated for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Television, was bested by Jodie Foster for her role in True Detective: Night Country.
When presenters Seth Rogen and Catherine O’Hara announced Foster’s name, Vergara stood up and jokingly exclaimed, “No, no!” Foster, taking the stage, playfully responded, “I know, I know.” The banter didn’t stop there, as Vergara shouted from the audience, “Give me one!”
This marked Vergara’s fifth Golden Globes nomination and fifth loss. Previously, she was nominated four times for her role in Modern Family. This year, she faced stiff competition, including Cate Blanchett (Disclaimer), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Naomi Watts (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans), and Kate Winslet (The Regime).

Foster, 62, celebrated her fifth Golden Globe win and took the moment to thank her family, including her wife of 10 years, Alexandra Hedison, and her sons Charlie, 26, and Kit, 23.
Despite Foster’s heartfelt words, Vergara kept the laughs going. Cameras caught her clapping enthusiastically but dramatically throwing her hands up in mock frustration. This loss hit particularly hard as it marked the second time Foster had bested Vergara—she also won over her at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
In a video shared after the Emmy loss, Vergara humorously declared, “They stole it from me. They stole it from me for the fifth time!”
While Vergara may not have taken home the trophy, she certainly won the night with her infectious humor and spirited reactions.
