Disney’s long-awaited live-action remake of its 1937 animated movie Snow White is set to hit theaters on March 21. Even though the release is months away, box office predictions are already in for the Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot-led film.
According to Quorum, the Marc Webb-directed movie is expected to earn between $63 million and $70 million in its first three days. Some sources suggest $65 million is a realistic estimate. For comparison, Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent opened with $69.4 million back in 2014. If Snow White hits those numbers, it would mark Zegler’s biggest box office debut, beating her previous record of $44.6 million with Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Many women, both younger and older than 35, know about the movie. According to Quorum, women under 35 are the most interested in paying to watch it in theaters, followed by women over 35 and then men under 35.
According to RelishMix, Snow White has a social media reach of 279 million followers, even though it doesn’t have official pages on X or Instagram yet. One TikTok video has already gained 9.2 million boosted views. The movie’s social presence is 2% higher than other family live-action films, with YouTube videos getting 141 million views and a strong viral rate of 47:1.

The movie was originally set to release on March 22, 2024, but was delayed by a year. During production, it faced criticism after Rachel Zegler’s honest comments about the original film made headlines. Additionally, Peter Dinklage, who isn’t in the movie, criticized the film on Marc Maron’s podcast, calling it “backwards.” Disney responded by saying they are taking a new approach to the seven characters and consulting with members of the dwarfism community to avoid reinforcing stereotypes.
Among Disney’s live-action remakes, The Lion King from 2019 holds the top spot for the biggest domestic opening weekend, earning $191.77 million. Even though it features computer-generated animals instead of real ones, it performed better than Beauty and the Beast, which stars real actors and made $174.7 million.
Looking ahead to 2025, Disney expects a big box office weekend with Captain America: Brave New World, set to release next Friday. It’s predicted to earn over $85 million in its first three days.
