Ryan Coogler’s movie Sinners has already become one of the top 100 highest-earning horror films in U.S. box office history. Now, it’s climbing another ladder—it’s ranked among the 15 highest-grossing vampire movies of all time.
It has even earned more than all the Underworld movies combined. What’s more exciting is that it’s about to surpass Morbius, and it did all this in less than a week since its release.
Sinners did better than expected during its opening weekend and is predicted to stay strong in its second week. Many are calling it a big win for original movies made for the big screen. With $64 million earned in the U.S. and another $15 million from other countries, the film has crossed $80 million globally.
Today, it’s expected to beat the box office totals of The Purge, The Invisible Man, and the Friday the 13th remake, putting it in the top 80 horror movies of all time. It’s also likely to beat last year’s hit Longlegs by Friday and could reach the $100 million mark this weekend.

On the vampire movies list, Sinners is set to earn more than Morbius by Friday. It has already passed other vampire films like The Lost Boys, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and 30 Days of Night.
It has also made more than each of the five Underworld movies and is expected to beat the total U.S. earnings of all the Blade films by tomorrow. In fact, Sinners has made about three times as much as From Dusk Till Dawn, which heavily inspired it. Of course, the top five highest-earning vampire films are still all part of the Twilight series.
Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan in two roles, also features Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Omar Miller, and Jack O’Connell in supporting parts. Made with a budget of over $90 million, the film received almost universal praise right from its release. It has a “Certified Fresh” rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a 97% audience score, marked as “Verified Fresh.” It also earned an A grade from CinemaScore, which is a rare achievement for a horror film.
In her review, Emma Kiely from Collider called Sinners “an electric film sparkling with energy and passion.” She praised director Ryan Coogler for using everything he’s learned over the past decade to create a visually powerful experience.
