After nearly a month in theaters around the world, Sinners has proven to be one of the top horror movies ever made. It’s also the second biggest Hollywood film of the year, coming in behind A Minecraft Movie, and is now performing better than two surprise blockbusters.
On its fourth Wednesday in U.S. theaters, Ryan Coogler’s vampire film made more money than Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame did on their fourth Wednesdays.
Unlike most summer movies, Sinners is acting more like a holiday release, which tend to stay popular longer. So far, it has earned about five times more than what it made during its first weekend in theaters.
On its 27th day, Sinners made $2.25 million in the U.S., beating Endgame’s $2 million and Infinity War’s $1.9 million on the same day in their runs. It now holds the record for the fourth-biggest fourth Wednesday for an R-rated movie, behind The Passion of the Christ, Oppenheimer, and Deadpool & Wolverine.
The film has made $223 million so far in the U.S., and it’s expected to pass $280 million easily, with a good chance of reaching $300 million.

If it does, Sinners will become the second biggest horror movie of all time, right after It. However, it hasn’t done as well in other countries yet, where it hasn’t even made $100 million.
The movie brings together Coogler and Michael B. Jordan again. Jordan plays two roles in a story that happens over one day and night in a small town in Mississippi. The SmokeStack twins host a big party that gets interrupted by vampires.
Made with a budget of $90 million, Sinners got great reviews and strong support from audiences. It has a 97% “certified fresh” score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 96% audience score, labeled as “verified hot.”
This weekend, it will face competition from another Warner Bros. horror movie, Final Destination: Bloodlines. That film is expected to open with around $30 million, but might do better because of its very positive reviews. It currently has a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
