We’re counting down the days until the new series of The Great British Sewing Bee—and the good news is, it’s arriving next week! Now there’s even more to look forward to, as judge Esme has shared some exciting hints about what’s to come.
Judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young will be back, along with host Sara Pascoe, who’s returning after missing last year’s series while on maternity leave with her second son.
Esme has only added to the excitement, calling the upcoming series a true “rollercoaster.” Before the new series kicked off, she shared:
You couldn’t tell from the beginning who’d be there in the final. It was such a rollercoaster. It was often down to such a small margin, when it came to sending one home, that any of them, really, could have won in the end.
Esme also shared that she believes this year’s contestants are the most talented the show has seen so far—and they faced the toughest challenges in Sewing Bee history. Each week, judges Patrick and Esme set three tasks for the sewers, designed to push their technical skills and creativity.
The challenges Patrick and I have set for the sewers this year are really ambitious – things they have never done before – and, right from the start, everybody did really well. There was so little between them, it was really difficult to judge.

We’re eager to see how this year’s sewers rise to the challenge!
