One of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorneys has filed a motion to withdraw from his legal team just months before the music mogul’s federal trial is set to begin.
Anthony Ricco, who has been representing Combs since September 2024, submitted the request on Friday morning, citing reasons he could not disclose due to attorney-client privilege.
Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.
Ricco stated in the filing.
While Ricco did not elaborate on the specifics behind his decision, he assured the court that his withdrawal would not result in any delays to the trial, which is scheduled for May. The motion also notes that Ricco informed the government of his intent to step away, and prosecutors did not object.

Combs still has legal representation from attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, who remain on his defense team.
Representatives for Combs and Ricco have yet to comment on the development.
The hip-hop mogul is currently being held in Brooklyn as he awaits trial on serious federal charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
This latest legal shake-up comes shortly after a lawsuit naming both Combs and Jay-Z was dismissed. The suit, filed by a Jane Doe, accused the two music icons of sexual assault. Meanwhile, Combs has fired back at NBCUniversal, Peacock, and Ample Entertainment with a $100 million defamation lawsuit over their “Making of a Bad Boy” documentary.
