The director of Scream 7, Kevin Williamson, has announced that filming has started for the next movie in the horror series. The cast includes Courteney Cox, who is back as Gale Weathers, and Neve Campbell, who returns as Sidney Prescott. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera were also supposed to be in the movie.
However, Jenna had to leave because she was busy filming season 2 of Wednesday, and Melissa was removed from the project because of comments she made about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Kevin Williamson, the director of Scream 7, posted a picture on Instagram of the set where they were filming the movie. He talked about how excellent the cast and crew are and said he’s excited about the movie. Williamson even called the recent day of filming “one of the best days of my life” and shared how happy and proud he feels. He ended his post by saying he’s looking forward to making more progress as they keep working on Scream 7.
Scream 7 was delayed before its release date was set for February 27, 2026. These delays happened because Jenna Ortega left the movie, Melissa Barrera was fired, and the story needed changes. But now, with filming already happening, it looks like the movie is back on track to be ready in time.

Kevin Williamson’s recent Instagram post shows how excited and thankful he is about the project, which is a good sign for the movie.
