Netflix’s hit show The Sandman, based on Neil Gaiman’s famous DC comic, is getting ready for its much-awaited second season, and Jenna Coleman has confirmed she’s coming back. In Season 1, Coleman impressed viewers with her role as Johanna Constantine.
The series became an instant success, even reaching the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list during its debut week. Season 2 of The Sandman is scheduled to release in 2025. Known for her roles in Doctor Who and Victoria, Coleman also stars in the drama series The Jetty, which you can watch now on Hulu and BritBox.
Jenna Coleman shared the exciting news about her return to The Sandman during an interview with Liam Crowley from Screen Rant. When asked about Season 2, she confirmed her role and hinted at some exciting updates. Coleman described the new season as “even more visually stunning” and “incredibly cinematic.” You can read her full comments below.
Yeah, I think I can say that now. I mean, people already saw me on set, so yes, I’m definitely back for Season 2. This season feels even more visually amazing than the first one. I’ve done some ADR (voice work) for it already. What can I share without Allan Heinberg getting upset? The scale is huge—it’s so cinematic. It’s a really unique show. Everything fans loved about Season 1 is still there, but there’s even more this time, for sure.

Jenna Coleman’s return in Season 2 has fans even more excited for The Sandman. Her character, Johanna Constantine, was a key part of Season 1, using her sharp wit to navigate the supernatural world and face dangerous challenges.

The upcoming season promises bigger and better stories, and Johanna’s role seems set to grow in interesting ways. Season 2 will explore more of The Sandman universe, taking a deeper look into the Dreaming and introducing new characters like Dream’s siblings—Destiny, Destruction, and Delirium.
Jenna Coleman’s remarks about Season 2’s “cinematic” feel suggest that Netflix is fully committed to creating a top-notch version of Neil Gaiman’s story. Showrunner Allan Heinberg previously shared that new comic characters, like Thor, Loki, and Odin, will join the series.
The next season will explore more exciting locations, including the underworld of Hades and Persephone, the magical court of Faerie, Ancient Greece, Elizabethan England, and the French Revolution. It will also adapt the Season of Mists storyline, where Dream returns to Hell. This arc reveals big secrets and raises new questions about the choices Dream made in the past.

The Sandman Season 2 looks set to build on the success of the first season, bringing back fan-favorite characters like Johanna Constantine and introducing new ones from Neil Gaiman’s world. Jenna Coleman’s mention of a “more visually stunning” season hints that Netflix is putting in even more effort to bring the magic of the Dreaming to life.
This season promises to be a must-watch for fans. With exciting new characters, deeper character journeys, and the breathtaking visuals teased by Coleman, viewers can look forward to exploring more of Gaiman’s imaginative worlds and the rich mythology that made the original comics so popular.
