In a production diary in the latest Doctor Who Magazine, Davies said the BBC’s iconic sci-fi show will never truly end, but he’s unsure about what comes after Season 15.
We don’t know what’s happening yet, and while everyone works that out, I’ll take a pause on this page … Hopefully, we’ll have news soon.

This letter is a production notes diary for when the show is in production, or on air, and as Russell has stated within the piece, it is a pause.
A Doctor Who source explained
Ncuti Gatwa has confirmed he’s leaving the role of the Doctor, with the show ending on a mysterious note as he regenerated into Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler.
The BBC hasn’t yet decided on a renewal, and there are still questions about its co-production deal with Disney+, which streams Doctor Who in the U.S.
Next up is the spin-off series The War Between The Land And The Sea, produced by Bad Wolf and starring Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Deadline has reviewed official seven-day viewing figures for Season 15, and the results aren’t encouraging for those behind Doctor Who.

The season averaged 3.2M viewers across its eight episodes, down by half a million from last year — Gatwa’s debut as the Doctor.
The comparison with Jodie Whittaker’s final season is even starker. Season 13 drew 1.7M more viewers, averaging 4.9M in 2021.
Deadline based its analysis on data from Barb, the UK’s official ratings body. These figures include TV on-demand and streaming but don’t give the full picture.
Broadcasters and streamers prefer 28-day figures for a fuller view, but seven-day numbers are a useful guide — and the downward trend is likely to hold in Doctor Who’s final ratings.
Doctor Who is the BBC’s biggest drama for the under 35s and remains one of the most popular brands on iPlayer, with over 70 million viewing hours in 2024.
