Ridley Scott confirmed on Thursday that he’s working on a new Alien movie, but he didn’t share any more details.
Scott started the Alien series back in 1979 with the original Alien film, starring Sigourney Weaver. James Cameron followed up with Aliens in 1986, and then more sequels came out, including Alien 3 in 1992 and Alien Resurrection in 1997.
He returned to the Alien series in 2012 with Prometheus, followed by Alien: Covenant in 2017. He also recently produced Alien: Romulus, directed by Fede Álvarez, set for release in 2024.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott is now working on a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios. It’s unclear if this will be the recently announced Alien: Romulus 2 or a different project, as Scott’s future role with the series hasn’t been confirmed.

Steve Asbell from 20th Century Studios recently told The Hollywood Reporter that they’re already working on ideas for a sequel to Alien: Romulus.
Scott’s next project, set to start filming early next year, will be a biopic about the disco group the Bee Gees for Paramount.
With his busy schedule, Scott’s company, Scott Free Productions, is looking for top talent to direct several upcoming projects. One of the names on their “dream list” of collaborators is Tony Gilroy, known for his work on Andor.
