The “Resident Alien” cast made their first and last appearance at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H, just a day after the show’s cancellation was announced.
The Friday morning panel came shortly after USA Network canceled “Resident Alien” on Thursday night. Showrunner Chris Sheridan, along with stars Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, and Alice Wetterlund, spoke about the cancellation and shared memories from the show’s four-season run. Only three episodes remain, with the series finale airing in two weeks.
We crafted this season that wraps our storylines and gives the audience a very satisfying conclusion to the four seasons they’ve been watching. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve done in this season. I can’t wait for you to see it.
Sheridan said
He said he had a feeling that Season 4 would be the last for “Resident Alien” when they began writing and filming it last year.
I told the cast that I believed this was the last season, and so we should really appreciate it. As we were shooting, there was an awareness that this was probably it. I know I approached it differently, and I appreciated things in a different way. These were big moments and saying goodbye, not only to each other, but also to the work we did.

Wetterlund spoke about the “disarray” in the TV industry on stage and told the full Comic-Con crowd that they “deserve more” of their show.
We know that you guys deserve more than you’re getting on a lot of shows and movies. The industry is in disarray and it’s been disrupted. Thanks, tech. In a world where TV were normal, we could have way more. The only reason that’s not true is not because anybody behind the show doesn’t want it. It’s because the way the industry works now. You guys deserve more of this.

Sheridan said a movie continuation of the show seems “possible” in the future, but there are no plans for it at the moment.

There won’t be another season of this show right now. I do hope for a movie down the road. I think that’s a plausible thing and that USA does do. No time soon. It’s not like I have ideas, but I think that’s something that could happen. I don’t know about another season, but the industry is always changing. Who knows?

The cast joked about making a “Resident Alien Versus Predator” spinoff.
I’m going to miss the beautiful routine and consistency. As an actor you don’t get that a lot in our business. It’s our version of a nine-to-five — that comfort you get when you walk in and everybody knows your name.
On a lighter note, Tomko said
Tudyk plays an alien in “Resident Alien” who crashes on Earth with a mission to wipe out humanity. But after taking over a local doctor’s identity, he starts to like and befriend humans. The cast also features Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Judah Prehn, and Meredith Garretson.
