One particular alien is taking over the world—or at least the Top 10 streaming charts. As of July 10, Resident Alien, which launched its fourth season in June, is the No. 5 most-streamed show globally on iTunes, according to FlixPatrol.
The Alan Tudyk-led show, created by Chris Sheridan, ranks higher than The Day of the Jackal, SpongeBob SquarePants, Bachelor in Paradise, Tom Hardy’s Taboo, and Pinky and the Brain, which hold the No. 6 through No. 10 spots on iTunes’ Top 10 list. At No. 5, Resident Alien trails just behind NBC’s long-running crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
The series features Tudyk as an alien sent to Earth to destroy humanity, but after crash-landing in a small Colorado town, he takes on the identity of a local doctor named Harry Vanderspeigle. The sci-fi comedy holds a nearly perfect 98% critic score and an 86% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season 4 of Resident Alien—also starring Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Judah Prehn, and Meredith Garretson—premiered on USA and SyFy in the U.S. on June 6 and is available to stream on Peacock. By the end of June, it had overtaken Chicago Fire to become the No. 7 most-streamed show on Peacock.

The surprise hit is one of the most overlooked sci-fi shows on television, and CBR praised Resident Alien for how it “blends sci-fi, comedy, and mystery with surprising heart.” Tudyk stands out as the eccentric Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, who finds himself tangled in the ups and downs of small-town life while secretly searching for his “doomsday” device.
But as he spends more time with humans, he starts to wonder if he should still go through with his mission to wipe out the planet.
It’s the rare sci-fi comedy that balances absurdity with soul, laugh-out-loud funny and sneakily moving.
CBR stated, calling the show
Tudyk will soon appear in another sci-fi adventure, lending his voice to Robot 4 in James Gunn’s Superman, which stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and hits theaters on July 11. Robot 4 is one of twelve robotic helpers based at Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. Like Tudyk’s K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the character serves as a robotic ally.

Superman also stars Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern. Fans of the short-lived but beloved series Firefly will remember that Fillion and Tudyk both starred in the sci-fi western. Fillion also appeared alongside Tudyk in his comedy series Con Man.
Seasons 1 through 4 of Resident Alien are available to stream on Peacock. The first three seasons can also be watched on Netflix, SyFy Now, Bravo Now, and E! Now.
