The release date for Happy Gilmore 2 may have been quietly revealed. Although Netflix hasn’t officially announced it, reports suggest the long-awaited sequel will arrive on the streamer in July.
According to Deadline, Happy Gilmore 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25, 2025. The release date was first mentioned in a February 13 article about cast member Conor Sherry, but it went largely unnoticed for nearly a month. While Netflix has yet to officially confirm the date, fans should take the report with caution. Interestingly, Deadline’s July release date is several months later than the March/April 2025 window previously mentioned by professional golfer John Daly, who is set to appear in the sequel.

Netflix announced Happy Gilmore 2 in May 2024 during its upfront presentation to advertisers. Adam Sandler returns in the highly anticipated sequel, reprising the role that made him a box-office star in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He’ll be joined by five returning cast members: Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, Christopher McDonald as the infamous Shooter McGavin, Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson, Allen Covert as Otto, and Ben Stiller as Hal L. New additions to the main cast include Bad Bunny as Happy’s caddie and Kym Whitley as Bessie, a member of Happy’s support group.
Filming for the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2 began in September 2024 and wrapped up in December. The sequel’s screenplay was co-written by original Happy Gilmore writer Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler. Kyle Newacheck, known for his work on What We Do in the Shadows and Sandler’s 2019 Netflix comedy Murder Mystery, directed the film.
Meanwhile, the original movie’s director, Dennis Dugan, returns as an executive producer and reprises his role as Doug Thompson. Producers Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds are also back. The first teaser, released on Christmas 2024, featured a tense reunion between Sandler’s Happy Gilmore and Christopher McDonald’s Shooter McGavin.
Like the 1996 original, Happy Gilmore 2 will feature plenty of high-profile celebrity cameos, including actors and professional golfers. Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Scott Mescudi, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, and Nick Swardson have been cast in undisclosed roles. Meanwhile, golf stars Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, John Daly, Tony Finau,Will Zalatoris, and more will appear as themselves. Additional cameos include rapper Eminem, football players Reggie Bush and Travis Kelce, talk show host Dan Patrick, and professional wrestler Becky Lynch.
If the report is accurate, Happy Gilmore 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25.
