Rebecca Ferguson is back in headlines after revisiting her past remarks about an “absolute idiot” co-star, a topic she first addressed in 2024.
Per Deadline, Ferguson recently spoke to The Sunday Times about the unnamed actor, revealing she still doesn’t care if the person realizes she’s referring to them. “Other people who have worked with this person also had a sh-tty time,” she said, acknowledging that the situation was “pretty complicated.” She added, “I don’t applaud my own behavior in that [situation].”
While speculation continues, Ferguson confirmed she wasn’t talking about her The Greatest Showman co-star Hugh Jackman, Mission: Impossible’s Tom Cruise, or Life co-star Ryan Reynolds.
It’s a really tricky world. We put a lot of blame on bullies and when we get older we can understand that people are insecure. When you start standing up for yourself, it’s really tricky. They’ll fire you and give the job to someone else.
she said.
Ferguson also noted that the actor has not reached out to her following her initial comments.
Back in 2024, during an appearance on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Ferguson opened up about finding her voice after enduring on-set disrespect. She recalled the unnamed co-star belittling her with comments like, “You call yourself an actor?” and “This is what I have to work with?” in front of the crew.
Ferguson eventually confronted them directly: “I looked at this person and I said, ‘You can F off. I’m gonna work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again.’ And then I remember the producers came up and said, ‘You can’t do this to number one. We have to let this person be on set.’”
Following her revelations, fans speculated about who the mystery actor might be. Several names including Hugh Grant and Tom Cruise have been ruled out. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who starred with Ferguson in Hercules (2014), even defended her, calling her “a guardian angel sent from heaven,” making him another unlikely suspect.
Despite the ongoing attention, Ferguson remains steadfast. “I got phone calls from amazing co-stars who I’ve worked with going, ‘You understand what you’ve done, right?!’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God. No, I didn’t think.’ I mean, it’s not my responsibility, to be honest. I don’t really care. You know, ‘You’re great, but my story is my story, and if you’re a good person, then don’t worry about it.’”
Ferguson stars in A House of Dynamite, a Netflix political thriller about a potential nuclear crisis, set to premiere on October 24, 2025.
