The Reacher universe may be growing, but its latest project is already facing some behind-the-scenes challenges. While Maria Sten’s Neagley spin-off is still being developed for Prime Video, the recent Skydance–Paramount merger has shaken things up — and it could affect the show’s future.
After the August 7 merger, Paramount’s TV division was split into CBS Studios and the newly revived Paramount TV Studios (PTVS). Reacher, Neagley, and Prime Video’s Cross are now fully under PTVS, ending their connection with CBS Studios, which helped make the first three seasons of Reacher.

This move puts the franchise in the same place as Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone and Skydance’s Foundation for Apple TV+. But for fans, it creates some uncertainty — especially since Neagley hasn’t been released yet.

If Sten’s work in Reacher Seasons 1 to 3 is anything to go by, the new show will bring the same intense action, sharp humor, and intelligence that made her character so popular. In Reacher Season 3 — based on Lee Child’s Persuader — Neagley fought for her life while Reacher was trapped in Zachary Beck’s fortress. Now, the spin-off will focus fully on her own story.
Neagley begins when her beloved friend is killed in a suspicious accident, setting her on a relentless mission for justice. With everything she’s learned from Reacher and her time in the 110th Special Investigators, she dives headfirst into a dangerous conspiracy.
According to Amazon’s official synopsis
Sten recently told Collider’s Christina Radish she’s excited to dig deeper into her character’s emotions — something the main series only briefly explored.
We still see her mostly as a person who shows up for her best friend, but there’s just so much more going on underneath it all.
she said
And yes, she’s doing her own stunts. With experience in gymnastics, dance, and kickboxing, Sten excels in the physically tough role.
I don’t have a middle path. I’m all or nothing, at all times.
she told Collider
Just ask the office windows from that fight in Reacher Season 3 — they had to be broken twice for one of the show’s most intense action scenes.
There’s no release date yet, but Lee Child has suggested Neagley could arrive as soon as late 2025. Until then, it’s unclear whether Paramount’s new studio setup will help or slow down one of Reacher’s most awaited spin-offs.
