Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette (known from Barry) has joined Season 4 of Reacher, stepping in for a recast role opposite Alan Ritchson, Deadline has confirmed.
Rodriguez-Marquette will portray Jacob Merrick, a local police officer. He replaces Jay Baruchel, who had to leave the series due to a personal matter. Baruchel was only recently announced as part of the cast. According to sources, Rodriguez-Marquette’s casting was notable because it happened on the same day the role became available, and he was flown to the set within a few days.
The show, created by Nick Santora—who also writes, produces, and acts as showrunner—is based on the Reacher novels by Lee Child. Season 4 adapts Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in the bestselling series. In this story, Jack Reacher (Ritchie) gets caught up in a dangerous and complicated situation after a random encounter with a distressed stranger on a train, pitting him against powerful enemies.

New cast members this season also include Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Indonesian-French singer Anggun, Kevin Corrigan, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, and Kathleen Robertson.
Reacher is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios. Along with Santora and Lee Child, Ritchson is also an executive producer. Other executive producers include Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha & Seth Cohen, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell from Skydance. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid oversee the show for Skydance Television.
The third season of Reacher premiered in February 2025 and quickly became Prime Video’s most-watched returning series.

Rodriguez-Marquette, who recently had a recurring role on HBO’s hit dark comedy Barry, just finished filming a lead part in the indie horror anthology Grind. His other movie credits include I Hate the Man in My Basement (directed by Dustin Cook), Fear, Inc. (directed by Vincent Masciale), Chokeslam with Amanda Crew, and Broken Horses with Vincent D’Onofrio and Anton Yelchin.
On TV, he’s appeared in Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle, Season 2 of Black Pill’s digital series All Wrong, The Fugitive for Quibi, and CBS’s Joan of Arcadia. He is represented by CESD, Strand Entertainment, and Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson + Christopher.
