The third season of Prime Video’s hit show Reacher has been a massive success, drawing a record-breaking number of viewers. Based on Lee Child’s books, the show follows the adventures of Jack Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson.
The latest season set a new record for the most-watched returning series on Prime Video, making it the biggest hit for the platform since Fallout, a video game adaptation released last year.
In just 19 days, Reacher amassed nearly 55 million views and has held the top spot on Prime Video every day for the past week.
Reacher has stayed at the top of Prime Video despite competition from House of David, Invincible, and The Chosen. The third season, based on Lee Child’s 2003 novel Persuader, was released on February 20. The first season adapted Killing Floor (1997), while the second was based on Bad Luck and Trouble (2007).

Created by Nick Santora, Season 3 follows Jack Reacher as he works undercover for the DEA. His mission is to infiltrate a criminal group run by wealthy businessman Zachary Beck (played by Anthony Michael Hall) and rescue a young informant believed to be held at Beck’s estate.
The season received great reviews, earning a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, matching the second season’s score. The first season also performed well, with a 92% rating.
Incredibly entertaining and immensely watchable. It’s not trying to be high art or win Emmys, but it is fully aware and confident in the kind of show that it is.
Nate Richard described the new season as
The Reacher show is a fresh start for the franchise after two movies starring Tom Cruise didn’t do well in theaters and disappointed fans of the books. Even author Lee Child later admitted that Cruise wasn’t the right fit for the role of the giant, rugged character. Despite this, the two films—Jack Reacher and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back—still made over $350 million worldwide.
With the show’s success, both movies have become popular again and are now among the top titles on Paramount+. Reacher Season 3 premiered with three episodes and continues to release a new episode every week.
