Is it time to sail the Seven Seas with the Pirates of the Caribbean crew again? We’re not sure yet. Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer behind the franchise, revealed he’s working on two scripts. One might even bring Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow—if he wants. But what about Orlando Bloom as Will Turner? That remains unclear since the plot is still in development. Unlike Depp, Bloom has hinted that he’s open to returning.
The post-credits scene in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hinted at more adventures for Turner, the captain of the Flying Dutchman. While Bruckheimer’s final plan isn’t confirmed, Bloom hasn’t ruled out coming back. In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Bloom shared his thoughts about the reboot.
I’ve heard he’s (Bruckheimer) pretty excited about it. It’ll be interesting to see. Jerry always brings out the big guns, as it were—pardon the pun. Cannons, I should say,
he joked
When asked if he might return, Bloom seemed open to the idea, and said:
Listen, it was a wild and fun experience so, you know, never say never. I have a lot of respect for that experience, and Jerry, and the whole thing. But who knows? I mean, it’s sort of one of those things I really haven’t thought about it, really. I’m happy that I got to be a part of something that feels like it’s standing the test of time, which is cool.

Orlando Bloom seems excited about returning to Pirates of the Caribbean, but Keira Knightley, who played Elizabeth Swann, feels differently. Last year, she shared how the public scrutiny during the films negatively affected her and ruled out any chance of returning.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bloom sympathized with Knightley, saying,
It was such a huge moment in time that is almost like… it feels almost like another lifetime now. But it certainly was unique and, you know, I’m always grateful. But I definitely understand where Keira was coming from, and she does wonderful things.… I have a lot of positive takeaways.
Knightley’s decision means that if Will Turner appears in the reboot, Elizabeth Swann may be absent. However, the creators could recast the character if they want her to be part of Turner’s story.
