Pedro Pascal’s role in The Mandalorian and Grogu has finally been confirmed by one of the biggest stars in the 2026 Star Wars movie. The film is set to release on May 22, 2026, and it will continue the story after the first three seasons of The Mandalorian, all of which are available to stream on Disney+. One of the confirmed stars of the movie is Sigourney Weaver, the sci-fi icon known for her work in the Avatar and Alien series.

Collider’s Steve Weintraub recently spoke with Weaver at the Toronto International Film Festival about her new movie, Dust Bunny. During their chat, the subject of Star Wars came up.
It won’t be as good as The Mandalorian [and Grogu], just letting you know. She added that it’s a different world.
After a brief exchange about whether The Mandalorian and Grogu could compare to Andor, Weaver said, While both are part of the Star Wars universe, Andor dives into darker themes of political corruption and fascism.
Weintraub pointed out the contrast between Andor and The Mandalorian and Grogu, saying the first deals with “deadly serious stuff” while the latter is “a fun time at the movies.” Weaver didn’t fully agree, ending by saying, “Well, let’s see, shall we? I’m sure it will be at least that. And it will have Pedro Pascal.” This finally clears up rumors that Pedro Pascal wasn’t part of the film and confirms that The Fantastic Four: First Steps star will return for the 2026 Star Wars movie.

The Mandalorian and Grogu isn’t the only Star Wars film heading to theaters soon. Shawn Levy will release Starfighter on May 28, 2027. This new adventure in the Galaxy Far, Far Away will star Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth, alongside Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Aaron Pierre, and others. Plot details are still secret, but it’s said to tell a new story with new characters, separate from the Skywalker saga.
