Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight has shared his plans for the franchise’s future as the upcoming movie wraps up filming. The popular series, created by Knight, ran for six seasons on Netflix from 2013 to 2022. Now, a Peaky Blinders movie is in the works. While the plot is still a secret, the cast has been announced. Cillian Murphy will return as Tommy Shelby, joined by Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth. Tom Harper will direct the movie, with Knight writing the script.
In an interview with Paris Match, Steven Knight talked about what’s next for Peaky Blinders and hinted at a possible new series. He revealed that filming for the Peaky Blinders movie finished on December 13. Knight hopes the movie will be ready to release in 2025 but didn’t promise a specific date. He also teased plans for a new show that would explore the Peaky Blinders universe further, focusing on “the new generation.” You can read Knight’s full quote below:
We plan to focus on a new generation in a series set after World War II. And who knows? Maybe we’ll even create a clothing line!
Hair and makeup designer Nadia Stacey recently shared a heartfelt message after filming finished. In her post, she called the Peaky Blinders movie The Immortal Man, which might be its title.

Finishing filming is a positive step for the Peaky Blinders movie. Although Steven Knight didn’t confirm a release date, the film could come out next year if post-production moves quickly. In the past, the Peaky Blinders series had long gaps between seasons. Since filming is already done, fans are hoping The Immortal Man (if that’s the title) won’t follow the same slow pace.

Knight’s hint about a possible spinoff show is exciting. The Peaky Blinders movie introduces several new actors who will join the returning cast. It’s possible that Barry Keoghan or another new actor could represent this “new generation,” as Keoghan is much younger than Cillian Murphy. Since the spinoff hasn’t been confirmed yet, its future might depend on how well the Peaky Blinders movie does.

If Knight and his team decide to create another Peaky Blinders show, choosing Barry Keoghan as the lead could be a smart move. While we don’t know much about his character yet, Keoghan’s recent success makes him a strong choice. His career has grown quickly, and he’s even gained popularity on TikTok with clips from Saltburn. Casting him in a new series could attract different audiences and bring fresh energy to the Peaky Blinders story.
