The 26th James Bond movie will be the first under the new creative direction of Amazon MGM Studios. Longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have approved a new deal granting Amazon MGM full creative control of the franchise. However, it remains to be seen how this will impact the film series.
While many in Hollywood are eager to join the franchise, Osgood Perkins won’t be one of them. The director, known for his acclaimed horror films Longlegs and The Monkey, recently addressed the possibility during a Reddit AMA. When asked if he would direct James Bond 26, Perkins made it clear he had no interest in the role.
As Perkins wrote, “No because f**k Jeff Bezos.”
Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs was a massive success, grossing over $126 million on a budget of under $10 million. It became Neon’s highest-grossing domestic release and the top-earning indie film of the year. With an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes, many critics hailed it as one of 2024’s best horror films.
His latest film, The Monkey, hit theaters on February 21. Based on a Stephen King story, the movie has earned over $31 million against a $10 million budget and holds a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Amazon chief Jeff Bezos took to social media to ask fans for their input on casting the next James Bond. Following the big announcement, he posted on Instagram, asking, “Who’d you pick as the next James Bond?” The comments quickly filled with suggestions, with Henry Cavill emerging as a fan favorite. Cavill has been a popular choice in fantasy casting for years, especially after losing the role to Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.
