Vincent Regan gave us some clues about what might happen in season 3.
Vincent Regan, who plays Vice-Admiral Garp in the live-action One Piece series, attended Vienna Comic-Con in late November. He shared news about the possible release of season 2 and even hinted at updates for a third season, which hasn’t been officially announced yet.
On November 24th, during an interview with CeralKillerz at Vienna Comic-Con, Vincent Regan talked about the filming progress, guessed when season 2 might release, and shared some news about season 3.
I just got back from South Africa after finishing all my scenes for season 2. Filming for the rest of the season should wrap up in about a month. I think the show will be ready on Netflix by next Christmas—at least, I hope so! It sounds like they’ll start filming season 3 soon. From what I know, they’ll cover the Albasta story arc, and it might take two seasons to complete. While I was there, I saw some amazing designs and drawings, and they were filming some really exciting scenes!
Vincent’s interview gave us some interesting updates. Originally, filming for One Piece season 2 was supposed to finish by January 31, 2025. But based on what Vincent said, it looks like filming might wrap up earlier, possibly in December 2024.
Vincent mentioned the release date, but it’s unclear if he was guessing or sharing something concrete. Netflix hasn’t officially announced a release date or even a time frame yet. Rumors online suggest the show could return in late 2025, with License Global reporting earlier this year that it’s planned for 2025. However, some think this timeline might be too optimistic based on the filming schedule. A few people involved in the show even list 2026 as the release year on their LinkedIn profiles. Hopefully, Netflix clears this up during their upcoming announcements.
Netflix hasn’t officially announced a third season for One Piece yet. What’s interesting is that Vincent mentioned the Albasta arc might be spread across two seasons. This could mean season 3 will be extra-long and split into two parts, or the live-action series might dedicate two full seasons to the Albasta story.
