The creator of the famous manga and anime shared exciting news about Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action series. They teased new characters and storylines as production moves forward.
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda shared exciting news about the upcoming second season of the live-action show. Fans are looking forward to more adventures with Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew. Oda announced that the new season is already in production, with filming well underway.
The new season will feature important story arcs from the One Piece world, like Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island. Oda joked about the high costs of bringing these big adventures to life.
He also shared that his focus on keeping the series’ quality high often creates creative challenges for the production team, including showrunner Matt Owens and partners at Netflix and Tomorrow Studios.
Oda promised fans that the production team is just as passionate about bringing One Piece to life as he is. They won’t release the new season until Oda is completely happy with it. “This isn’t in the contract; it’s a verbal promise,” Oda said, showing the strong trust and dedication between him and the team.
Oda announced that the actors for key characters — Vivi, Robin (as Miss All Sunday), and Chopper — will be revealed over the next three days. These characters play important roles in the new season’s story, and fans are excited to see who will portray them on screen.
The first season of the live-action One Piece series, which came out on August 31, 2023, was well-received by both fans and critics. The cast’s performances, especially Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, were praised. The original Straw Hat crew will return for the second season, with Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
Season 2 will also add several new villains, like Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, and David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3. New characters will also appear, with Brendan Sean Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Clive Russell as Crocus, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, and Werner Coetser as Dorry.
The live-action One Piece series, made by ITV Studios partner Tomorrow Studios and Netflix, is also working with Shueisha. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz are the new co-showrunners, with Tracz replacing Steven Maeda from the first season. The new season is set to premiere in 2025 and promises to be another exciting part of the One Piece story, with Oda’s personal touch making sure it meets fans’ high hopes.
