Wednesday is coming back for a second season on Netflix in 2025. The show first aired in 2023 and became Netflix’s most-watched series ever. Filming for Season 2 is now complete, and it looks like a third season could happen too.
Production began in Ireland in May 2024 and finished in late November. The new season will have eight episodes and will be released on Netflix in 2025.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter before the official renewal, the showrunners teased the future of the show, saying:
For us, the show is really about the friendship between Wednesday and Enid. It’s been amazing to see how much the audience connected with them. We’re excited to explore what happens now that Wednesday has started to open up to friendship. What will that look like going forward?

Multiple sources say a major new character will join Wednesday Season 2. Fans are guessing it could be Cousin Itt, Purbert, Grandma Addams, or Mama.

In June 2023, Jenna Ortega talked to Variety and shared some hints about the new season and its tone, saying:
The season is still coming together, but we’ve decided to focus more on the horror. We’re also dropping any romantic storylines, which is awesome. It’s going to get bolder and darker. I’ve never worked on a serious period drama before. Were there any steps you had to take to make sure everything was historically accurate?
Tim Burton will direct four episodes of Season 2, and Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson will each direct an episode as well.
Season 2 stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie Santiago, Billie Piper as Capri, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and new cast members Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor (roles yet to be announced). Luis Guzmán returns as Gomez Addams, and Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia Addams.
The creators and showrunners, Gough and Millar, will executive produce Wednesday along with Jenna Ortega, Steve Stark, Andrew Mittman, Tommy Harper, Karen Richards, Kayla Alpert, Jonathan Glickman, Gail Berman, and Meredith Averill.
Wednesday Season 2 will come to Netflix in 2025.
